For Referring Physicians

A non-surgical radiation resource for the patients you'd rather not take to surgery — co-managed, and returned to your care.

Heelex Medical is a dedicated radiation therapy clinic. We are a resource for your practice, not a replacement for it. The patient stays yours — we treat only what you refer, document the course, keep you informed, and refer the patient back to your care. We don't diagnose in your place and we don't compete for the cases you'd take to surgery.

Where we fit

The appropriately selected, non-surgical-candidate patient — or the patient who, after talking it through with you, would rather avoid a procedure.

Dermatology

  • Non-melanoma skin cancers (BCC, SCC) in poor surgical candidates or those who decline excision
  • Sensitive-site lesions — face, ear, nose, eyelid, lip, scalp
  • Anticoagulated, frail, or slow-healing patients
  • Recurrence after a prior excision or Mohs
  • Keloid recurrence prevention, started 24–48 hours post-excision
  • Resistant warts and localized, treatment-refractory psoriasis

Orthopedics, podiatry & hand surgery

  • Osteoarthritis (knee, hip, shoulder, hand, foot & ankle)
  • Plantar fasciitis and chronic tendinopathies
  • Dupuytren's and Ledderhose disease, plantar fibroma
  • Trochanteric and other chronic bursitis
  • A non-surgical, drug-free option for patients who've exhausted conservative care but aren't ready for surgery

What we will not treat — and will send back to you

We say this plainly because it's how we keep your trust. We do not treat melanoma. Large, deeply invasive, or aggressive-subtype tumors are usually better served by surgery, and we'll say so. Anything that still needs a diagnosis, a biopsy, or a staging decision belongs in your hands first — we review the pathology before we accept a case, and if radiation isn't the sound choice, we return the patient to you rather than start treatment here.

How a referral works

  1. Send the referral and the relevant pathology or imaging by fax, email, or phone.
  2. We review it and confirm whether the patient is an appropriate candidate — and tell you honestly if they're not.
  3. We verify benefits before any treatment and coordinate scheduling directly with the patient.
  4. We document the course and send a summary back to you. The patient remains in your care.
